The Scientific Computing & Information Technology group at the Australian Synchrotron was formed in 2013 by combining two previously-separate teams. Part of the science division, Scientific Computing & IT provides indispensable resources and capabilities to add significant value to experiments undertaken at the Australian Synchrotron. The group’s capabilities can be categorised into three main areas:

- Data analysis packages
- Remote access to instruments and data.
