The focus of the 4th Italian-Australian Workshop is application of synchrotron radiation to life sciences, material science, instrumentation, free electron lasers and biomedical sciences. The Workshop is being held on the weekend following MASR/BSR 2010 and will include presentations and discussions from Italian and Australian invited scientists.
The scope of the workshop is to promote collaboration between Australian and Italian synchrotron scientists in the application of synchrotron radiation to medical, biological, and materials science.

Friday 19 February – Life Sciences

- SAXS and life sciences, nano materials
- Life sciences with soft x-ray microscopy
- Polymer mapping with STXM
- Instrumentation
Saturday 20 February - Materials Science / Instrumentation / FEL
- Materials: scanning PE
- Materials science: surfaces
- Future light sources
- Microscopy/imaging soft x-ray/FEL
- Scattering of soft x-ray FEL light
- XAFS (TBC)
Note: The Clinical Applications of Synchrotron Radiation (CASR) Workshop is taking place on Saturday 20 February at the Monash Centre for Synchrotron Science.
Sunday 21 February - Biomedical Sciences
- Materials: scanning PE
- X-ray approaches to velocimetry (Instrumentation & New Techniques) – lung studies
- Medical imaging, patients
- Imaging & Medical Beamline at the AS
Proceedings:
Proceedings will be available online after the Workshop is complete
