Outline

Day 1 will dedicate a bit more time to the lectures whereas Day 2 will have more time for the basic hands-on exercises.
The hands-on exercises will be conducted using VmWare images with EPICS and all tools pre-installed.

Day 3 involves an important \"show and tell\" session for the second half of the day designed for Australian EPICS developers
to share knowledge and experience with the aim of strengthening the Australian EPICS community.

Day 1:

– Introduction to EPICS
– Basic Database concepts (processing, linking etc.)
– Building an IOC project in Linux
– Exercise: build your first EPICS project

Day 2:

– Database records (some basic types)
– EDM for GUI
– AlarmHandler basics
– Create databases with Visual DCT
– Exercise: a soft EPICS database (simulation of vacuum system) with EDM GUI
 

Day 3:

– Device Driver Basics
– Australian EPICS Collaboration Meeting \"show and tell\"
