Media release from ANSTO: New Joint Professor with Macquarie University Starts
3 September 2012
Today, Professor Simon Clark, joined us from the Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, in a jointly funded position with the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Macquarie University.
Simon is an expert in the application of synchrotron-radiation methods to the earth sciences, particularly at the high pressures and temperatures relevant in the earth's mantle and core. He will be a key player in building up such activities both at the Australian Synchrotron in Melbourne, and using neutron scattering and imaging at the OPAL Research Reactor in Sydney.
Simon gave an invited presentation at the 2011 Australian Synchrotron User Meeting in December 2011.
