The Australian Synchrotron Board of Directors has announced the inaugural membership of its new National Science Colloquium (NSC).
The NSC, chaired by Sir Gustav Nossal, has been established by the Australian Synchrotron to provide strategic advice from leaders in Australia and New Zealand academies, professional bodies, government research organisations and funding agencies as well as universities, business and government.
The new body complements the AS Scientific Advisory Committee and User Advisory committees.
The members are: Professor Warwick Anderson, Chief Executive Officer, National Health and Medical Research Council; Professor Robin Batterham, President Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering; Professor Lyn
Beazley, Chief Scientist Western Australia; Mr Tim Besley, Former CRC for Greenhouse Gas Technologies; Professor Gavin Brown, Inaugural Director, Royal Institution of Australia; Professor Suzanne Cory, President Australian Academy of Science; The Hon Barry Jones, former Science Minister; Dr Peter Laver, Director Australian Centre for Innovation; Professor James Metson, Head of the Department of Chemistry University of Auckland; Professor Brian O’Connor, Emeritus Professor of Applied Physics Curtin University of Technology; Professor Margaret Sheil, Chief Executive Officer Australian Research Council; and, Professor David Siddle, former Deputy Vice Chancellor Research University of Queensland.
The NSC will provide advice, advocacy, expertise and experience in support of the Australian Synchrotron’s research, development and expansion.
