The synchrotron’s new Board Chair is Richard Larkins, a distinguished medical researcher and administrator. Richard was appointed to the ASCo and ASHCo boards in November 2012, following the conclusion of Mrs Catherine Walter’s term as founding Chair.

Richard is an Emeritus Professor, Monash University. He was Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University from 2003 to 2009, and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne from 1998 to 2003. His career includes many senior management and board positions in research and university administration, and his original clinical and research interests were in diabetes, endocrinology and general medicine.
