Around 850 year 12 physics students took part in synchrotron laboratory sessions between July and October 2012. A survey of their teachers found that 97 per cent would recommend a synchrotron visit to others.

“Jonathan did a fantastic job with my students and pushed them to think about the connections between the VCE course and the experiments. Students took to the collection of data using the software very quickly. Our school has very limited facilities and to have multiple sets for each experiment was a luxury.”

“Thanks for the enormous effort you have put into not only organising all aspects of the lab sessions – the ppts, the notes, the equipment, the efficient running of the sessions, and the tour – but also for your enthusiasm and knowledge and for inspiring the kids. Several are considering going into experimental physics research so the tour was quite inspirational in that regard and not one complained about going over time so thanks for giving up your time to go that extra mile for them.”

The AS laboratory sessions are always heavily booked. Bookings for 2013 are expected to open in early February. To ensure your students don’t miss out in 2013, keep an eye on the education pages on our website. Click here to go to online booking page.
